Happy Friday, people. Elon just left the White House after 130 days of DOGE—without even telling Trump. 😂 But hey, Trump still said “thanks for your service.”
Turns out, even the world’s richest man couldn’t outspend a 1,000-page Trump tax bill.
And my man?
🤑 Spent $300M backing Trump
📉 Lost $120B from his net worth
💔 DOGE dreams = officially dead.

🦄 Startups Are Rising—But Many Can’t Stay Afloat

Source: The Daily Star.
Startups in BD’s SME sector are popping up fast, but nearly 1 in 3 shut down within a year or two. Why? Most entrepreneurs lack the marketing skills, strategy, and training to stay afloat. Dr. Selim Raihan of SANEM says many launch with passion—but without knowing how to brand, sell, or find customers in today’s cutthroat market.
SMEs contribute nearly 30% to GDP and employ over 20M people. Yet most small business owners still struggle with online marketing, pricing, packaging, and basic digital tools. Even with programs from the SME Foundation—including 100+ fairs and training sessions—support often doesn’t reach the ground level where it’s needed most.
Without serious upgrades in skills and support, BD risks losing a whole wave of young businesses to early burnout. Experts are urging the government to offer Tk 5b in support in the next budget, set up SME marketing hubs, roll out tax breaks, and expand access to digital platforms.

💼 Japan will hire 100,000 Bangladeshi workers in five years to counter its deepening labour crisis—projected to hit 11 million by 2040. At a seminar in Tokyo, Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus oversaw MoUs aimed at fast-tracking recruitment, with Japanese firms calling Bangladeshi youth a vital asset.
📉 BD’s foreign aid has dropped by over 50% to just $1.66 billion in 10 months! Because the country had to repay a whopping $3.5 billion in loans and interest, hitting a record high. Many major loans borrowed in the past are now due for repayment, which means less fresh aid is coming in.

📢 The BWDB has issued flood warnings for six northeastern and eastern districts—Sylhet, Sunamganj, Moulvibazar, Habiganj, Netrokona, and Feni—amid heavy rainfall and tidal surges triggered by a deep depression over the Bay of Bengal. Rivers in these areas are rising rapidly, with some expected to cross danger levels in the coming days, increasing the risk of short-term flooding and landslides.
