At the 2025 DUCSU election, Islami Chhatra Shibir-backed panels achieved major wins__winning 23 of the 28 central committee posts, and similarly, at JUCSU, their supported panel won 20 out of 25 central council seats. This marks a historic victory for the student wing of Jamaat-e-Islami, which has been largely sidelined for decades. 

So, how did they win? With the once-dominant Bangladesh Chhatra League banned and Jatiyotabadi Chhatra Dal fragmented, Shibir seized the opportunity with a smart, multi-pronged approach. They focused on long-term groundwork and built strong networks, particularly in female halls and non-residential students, providing social and financial support to students. Their campaigns were grounded in a softer, more relatable communication style, contrasting sharply with the "heavy political rhetoric" of their rivals. By presenting candidates who were seen as symbols of the July uprising, they connected emotionally with students looking for change.

The rules have changed. The old power-driven, top-down approach is no longer enough. The new generation of voters values organization, direct engagement, and a focus on real student issues. Political parties looking to gain a foothold must learn from this.
