Good morning, people. Hope your dinner didn’t cost you a million. 🍽️
Donald Trump just threw a fancy dinner at his golf club for the top holders of his meme coin, $Trump. Nearly half of the guests lost money—a collective $9 million—just to make it to the table.

Good food doesn’t have to cost that much, BTW. Eat well. Stay hydrated. Have a great day.

Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus will not stay in power even a day beyond June 30, 2026, his press secretary Shafiqul Alam confirmed after a meeting with 17 political parties. Yunus warned that the country is in a “state of war” following the banning of the Awami League, accusing forces inside and outside Bangladesh of trying to destabilize the nation. He also said he would feel personally guilty if free and fair elections can’t be held on time.

💰 Bangladesh is set to seek $1B in budget support from Japan during Chief Adviser Yunus’s Tokyo visit in late June. Seven MoUs (Memorandums of Understanding) are expected, covering energy, investment, and special economic zones—while a planned defence deal has been dropped from the agenda.

💳 World Bank just signed off on a $270M loan to help Bangladesh bounce back from last year’s floods. The cash will fund repairs to roads and dams, support farmers, and prep the country for future climate shocks — with repayment stretched over 30 years, and generous terms to boot.

Bangladesh’s first crude oil refinery since independence is still in neutral. The $3B project meant to slash fuel import costs and boost local refining is crawling, with delays blamed on funding hiccups, red tape, and rent-seeking lobbies. Meanwhile, the lone refinery from 1968 is left to meet a fraction of the country's soaring fuel demand.

On May 23, 2025, in Jashore’s Abhoynagar, a business dispute over fish farms sparked the killing of local leader Tarikul Islam, followed by arson that destroyed 18 homes in a minority Hindu Matua village.
